BIM objects are a family of intelligent virtual 3D objects that provide detailed information about a product or component about its physical characteristics such as its geometry and visual graphical representation. They mimic the object’s real-world features and have an exact resemblance to real-world shape, look & geometry.
They are often requested by manufacturers so that these, 3D Objects could readily be used in models.
BIM Objects Classification : : Component BIM Object & Layered BIM Object
- Component BIM Object: Objects with distinct geometry such as windows, doors, boilers, etc.
- Layered Objects: They are the ones that do not have a distinct size or geometry, e.g., Carpets, roofing, walls, ceilings et al.
That said, Custom family creation involves a process of creating an exhaustive library of building-based products or mechanical/electrical/plumbing components, on Revit platforms, wherein a change in the specification or dimension on one gets reflected on the entire family of the said component across the entire drawing. This type of family is known as Parametric Revit Family. These are very critical as these Parametric families enable the owners of said projects to maintain control with the help of these centralized families.
We at TheDraftRack, owing to our extensive expertise and experience on Revit assist our clients by providing them with standard and customized Revit families. We have worked with a host of architects, manufacturers, and engineers providing them with an extensive list of parametric and non-parametric drawings
